Beginners book binding

After the sell out success of the Bookbinding Masterclass in August, we will be hosting another in March!

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those who may have dabbled during their university course.

Want to learn how to create a book?

Aimee has been bookbinding since 2012 and has worked for the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle and prestigious London Book Binders.

Bookbinding is a craft not a lot of people know is achievable at home with a few simple tools.

During the workshop you will be taught how to fold and manipulate paper, why grain direction is so important and how it’s recognised.

You will get to choose the bookbinding cloth you cover your book with and get to choose the endpapers as well. A few trade secrets will be shared, including how to lock your thread onto your needle.

At the end of the workshop you will have an A6, 170GSM, plain paper, single section notebook and the skills to go ahead and make more.

Christmas decoration making class!

Christmas decoration making class!

Come along to make beautiful book decorations.

This is a beginners friendly class but if you have taken my beginners bookbinding class you will have a small advantage. In this class I will teach you how to sew together a simple pamphlet book that's around 1inch square, so it's small! This technique is the same I use to make the pamphlet books in my beginners class so you can go away and just take what you have learned and make it bigger, to make 'regular' sized books.

These small books are perfect for decorating your tree, using them as gift tags, as ideas for presents and also to write lists to santa. All materials are provided, if you have ribbon you would like to use please feel free to bring it along with you.

This class is for 2 hours and within that time I'll show you all how to make three decorations to take home with you. I will also have my book available to buy, alongside some liquid cheer!

Tickets are £47 and can be purchased from here: https://slipstitchldn.co.uk/collections/events/products/bookbinding-with-woodle-books
